The objective of the institute is to promote research in the field of pension economics by fostering collaboration among its member and increasing understanding of pension-related issues in Iceland. The institute strives to support its fellows in publishing their work in academic journals and books of a high standing.
The institute organizes workshops and conferences attended by its fellows and other scholars in the area. In addition to regular workshops, it organizes one large conference each year in collaboration with the Icelandic Pension Funds Association. The institute provides financial support to doctoral students in this field.
Through international collaborations the institute will provide information and ideas about the organization of pension issues in other countries, which will help guide the future development of Iceland’s pension system.
