Axel Hall is an assistant professor at Reykjavík University’s Faculty of Business. He graduated with a BSc degree in economics from the University of Iceland in 1994 and an MSc in mathematical economics and economic research from the London School of Economics. In 2015, Axel defended his doctoral thesis at the University of Iceland on taxation and labour supply. Previous employment includes doing research at the Institute of Economics at the University of Iceland from 1996 to 2006. Axel has been an advisor to the government in the formulation of tax policy, in particular the system of income taxation and capital income taxation. Axel was vice-chairman of the Fiscal Council in the years 2016-2022 and he sits on the Financial Stability Committee of the Central Bank of Iceland.
