Arnaldur is an assistant professor at the Faculty of Economics, University of Iceland. Arnaldur’s main research areas are public economics, behavioral public finance and household finance. His research is focused on how economic agents behave in order to cast light on how to design tax, pension and housing policies. In his work he has, among other things, studied how housing wealth and housing policies affect consumption, the effect of mandatory pension savings on total savings and consumption, and what affects take-up of allowance for pensioners. Arnaldur completed a PhD in Economics at Uppsala University in 2019, and prior to joining the University of Iceland, he held positions at Gothenburg University and Uppsala University.
